Who is Michael?
Michael Hofmann is the President and Founder of Your Local City, Inc. Tonya Hofmann (my wife) came up with this incredible idea of Your Local City over 6 years ago. We some time reviewing the idea and within two weeks of each other losing our “JOBS” we decided that this is a good time to start. What I found to be fun and incredible is telling new clients to join us for an amazing future. We started with only 6 clients and began to grow. After 5 years and hundreds of members we are enjoying our next incarnation, Your Local Coach. We always had a plan to use Your Local City as a launch pad for our next business. It’s always rewarding to create a plan, guide your self with a plan, and see the plan being fulfilled.
Our first business was a retail store called Gray Matter Science and Nature. This was one of the best ventures to be involved in because I learned how well I worked with Tonya. She’s an amazing sales person and people person. We enjoyed selling earth day and science equipment. We had science classes for young students and science birthday parties. There was nothing more rewarding than watching children eyes wide open as they gathered all the new information first hand. Books are great, but putting your hands on actually equipment and forcing your mind to learn, can’t be beat.
I had a successful career with Circuit City as a sale manager, which was an amazing experience. The major lesson of that experience was that you lived with “no excuses” and your only goal was “customer service and budget”. I trained hundred of sales people to be better than their worst day and demonstrated that execution of an opportunity is a mind game. My rally charge on the floor was always “5 customers to budget!”
I taught my sales team that quality was always better than quantity.
As an IT / IS consultant with the State of Texas, I managed graphic designers, developers, and was part of our Research and Development department. I can’t say enough of how much I enjoyed the experience by being around some very talented and amazing people. Our work on the Trans Texas Corridor and local toll roads in Austin was incredible. We created software that was adopted by the State of Texas as their main solution for document control on these road projects. What I discovered was that I have a passion for software development, however could not write one piece of code. I’ve spent years learning by myself so that I can now support Your Local City and all my new clients.
Tonya and I tried for years to figure out a way to work together again. We succeed by starting Your Local City and Your Local Coach. I can not be happier.
